April Birds

An American Crow's morning call told us all today would be nice and sunny.  You might notice he had to spread the tail feathers as he squawked loud and far.

When the sun just began to give a soft glow in the backyard, a female Northern Flicker arrived.  Today was a perfect day for a close-up picture.  See, how charming she is.

In April, pear blossoms captivate many birds.  They can eat the sweet blossoms or suck the nectar from them.  Even a female Roufous Hummingbird found a favorite spot around the corner.

Mr. Roufous Hummingbird was flying around, in and out, chasing her here and there.

Come spring, Mr. House Finch gets busy munching the appetizing pear blossoms.

While Mr. Golden-crowned Sparrow was not a bit interested in the blossoms, he was digging into the freshly tilted garden for some worms.
The other day I counted five of the sparrows here.  See, his golden-crown looks brighter now for more attention.  Remember, in the bird world, males have to be fancy and attractive.

This month I am waiting for a couple of birds to return here.   Someone who also like pear blossoms.   I will let you know when I see them.
