Anna's Summer

The weather is hot, but just right for summer.   Anna's Hummingbirds are around everyday.  I have flowers both in the front yard and the back yard.  Hummingbirds often chase each other over the territory.  So I planted their favorites in the both yards.

"Today is my day here.  I have the right to defend."

"A lot of my favorite flowers.  Hard to decide which to start."

"I'm here, hiding from others."

Rufous Hummingbird

The comfortably hot weather returned here.  So with a Rufous Hummingbird.  He is smaller than Anna's Hummingbird.  His swift movement can let me know his arrival.

"I like the hot weather and the hotlips.  Look at my beautiful wings."

"I just like to slurp on each one of the flowers here."

Bird Food

For birds, summer is a hunting season.

Osprey like to hunt over the water with their sharp eyes.  Quite often it catches a big fish.

"Look at this big catch."

A Song Sparrow likes to find a bug in the air.  What is it?

"I don't know, but it tastes good."

A Western Grebe dives into the water to catch a fish or two.

"Right now, I am so full that I just enjoy the calm water early in the morning,"

Love of a Song

At the wetland, many wild flowers are in bloom.

Song Sparrows are everywhere.  They sing a beautiful song on the top of a branch,  even in front of me who look through the camera lens.

"Just listen to my song."

Here is another one.

"I just love to sing."
