Roman Eagle

Just returned from my trip.  This time we visited a few small cities in the central Turkey.

Kayseri is a business center at the foot of Mt. Erciyes in the Cappadocia region. You can see the mountain on this photo.

In Kayseri,  we stopped over at  the Archaeological museum and saw a sculptured eagle created during the Roman Period.

Here is a larger bird,  missing the head.

Throughout the history, humans, be it of 2,000 years ago or of today, are surely captivated by the bird's majestic appearance.

Ducks Visit

Iris is the flower that blooms for Children's Festival Day (May 5) in Japan.

For the last few years, a couple of  Mallard ducks visit my backyard around this time of the year.
The male always stands as sentinel while the female garbles up the seeds like a vacuum cleaner.  I just found out that their favorite food is slugs.  I hope they will find enough in my backyard.

Female duck:  "Now I finished the sunflower seeds here.  I am off to the other end."

Male duck:  "Don't rush.  I am behind you."
