Busy Season

During the summer months birds are super busy raising their young.

Here is an European Starling mom.

"I just need to train my kids to feed themselves."

"I am still waiting for mom to give me food."

"It's fun to play in the water."

Fun to See a Summer Bird

An early summer flower, Columbine.  In a planting pot, it comes back every year.

A summer bird, Wilson's Warbler, showed up here a few times.  It is very hard for my camera to focus on the bird.

"I am very cautious, swift, and good at hiding among the weeds."

"Wow, I saw you, the backyard owner!"

"Can you see me better?"

Babies are Everyewhere.

This time of the year, all the birds are busy raising their young.

Here is a Duck mom with eight baby ducklings.

"We are training to swim."

Here are a couple of Canada Geese with four gooselings.

"The babies are to learn where to find food."

My iris are in bloom in the backyard.

Another Summer Bird

A few weeks ago, an Orange-crowned Warbler, a summer bird,  stopped by.

"See.  I do have an orange crown."

After the bath, he checked the blueberry blossoms.

"I do love the taste of the blueberry nectar."

"Now I look better in the sun."

Anna's Hummingbird

Anna's Hummingbirds were quite busy hunting the spider webs for her nest.  They also like to eat bugs during the spring season, so they rarely came to my sugar water feeders.  I missed them.

Now that my blueberry blossoms are open, they are back slurping the sweet nectar everyday.

"The blueberry nectar is so sweet that I forget about the sugar water."

"Just to make the backyard owner happy, I can still land at the feeder."

A cabbage patch butterfly is also returned.
