A Rare Visitor

For the past few days, it's been like summer.  This morning  I saw a summer bird which I saw only once a few years ago.  A lucky day!!

"Hi, I may look like Orange-crowned Warbler,
but I am a Nashville Warbler (white eye ring)."

"I am munching little bugs in the honeysuckle bush.
Early in the morning, the bugs are half asleep and easy to catch."

"I am glad to stop over here since I am getting full."

Wetland Scene

Finally the sunny weather returned here after cold rainy days.  We took off to the wetland to see any changes.

A male Mallard welcomed us.

A young Bald Eagle flew over us.

At the end of the trail, a Song Sparrow paused for a close up photo.

"I am busy building a nest now."

Spring Meal

Small yellow flowers, Yamabuki (Kerria japonica), are in bloom in my backyard.

A Ruby-crowned Kinglet comes to nibble on the suet during the cold months, but not any more.
Guess why.

"I've been busy catching bugs like this.  I am tired of the
suet, so the fresh bugs are my spring meal."

Lately there is no hummingbirds on the sugar water feeder.  You know why?

"I am tired of the sugar juice. In spring, I
eat the bugs and slurp the blueberry flower nectar.  "

Spring Visitor

In spring Purple Finches sometimes stop over.  They are deep pink colored, a lot brighter than a male House Finch.

One day I saw two munching sunflower seeds.

Another day I saw one at the bath.

Then they eat the tender spring apple leaf buds.

"I love the spring delicacies."
