Wetland After Rainy Days

 On a sunny morning, we were at the nearby wetland.

Pie-billed Grebe said, "Hi, I see you often."

Then, I saw a Common Merganser.

"Hi, I am all by myself, and my friends are at another pond."

An American Bittern was still here.  He/she is almost ready to leave for a warmer area.

"I will probably leave for the coast soon."

More Waterfowl

Finally rain returned to Oregon this week.  Yesterday the temperature remained below 50 F all day.  

At the wetland before this weather change, birds were still enjoying the warm fall weather.  

Lesser Goldfinch:  "I just cannot believe this warm temperature this time of the year.💦"

Song Sparrow: "Me, too.  I need to hide from the hot sun💦."

But the waterfowls are now arriving here for the winter months.

Here comes Common Mergansers at the big reservoir.

"We finally returned here.  The weather will get cold any time.😅😁"

Water Fowls

 After a week of rainy weather, the weather finally cleared for us to stop over at the nearby wetland.

Crackling goose:  "I am glad to see the blue sky!"

Common Mergansers:  "We are a big block of a couple of dozens."

A male Mallard:  " I have a pretty green head."

Winter Waterfowls

         Last weekend, on a cold, sunny day, I saw many geese and ducks at the nearby wetland.

Mallard ducks:  "Nice and sunny.  Many geese are with us."

Crackling Geese:  "We may look like Canada Geese, but have rounder face, 

shorter neck, and stubbier bill.  We are Crackling Geese."

Common Merganser:  "I am a red-headed lady."

One day at the nearby wetland, I saw a female Common Merganser swimming in the morning sun.

Upon noticing my camera stare, she dashed splashing the water.

On another time, she was with her mate floating in the distance.

"Stay away from us."

Autumn Scene

Last weekend we enjoyed the warm autumn day.  The leaves are golden against the blue sky.

At a wetland,  many Canada Geese were around: some flying around and others still sleeping.

A large flock of Common Mergansers (ducks) were swimming across the reservoir diving for fish.

"Ready to catch one!"
