Not So Hot Anymore

I can feel the autumn breeze once in a while.   A little butterfly flies around together with a bumble bee in my backyard.🐝🦋

Summer flowers are mostly done.  Anna's Hummingbird is back to the sugar water.

"Summer flowers are not so sweet now.  I am back to your sugar water."😋

"I am a Rufuous Hummingbird and on the way 

to south.  I still like your hotlips."😋

My Backyard Is Busy

The hot weather is here.  The lawn is brown, but I try to water some with the well water.  The roses are in bloom all summer long with sun, water, and  fertilizer.

"Find a bee amongst the flowers."🐝

"The clothesline is a place for rest between the fights."😁

"We like the suet even in the summer."😋

Hot Days

The hot days are back in Oregon.  The lavenders in my backyard are now in bloom.  I make the lavender wands every summer.  Butterflies and bees are busy now.😄🐝🦋

"I am busy drinking the flower nectar."😋

"But sometimes I smell the fresh sugar juice, so I try the juice."😋

"Today, I am wading here!  I saw a hummingbird doing it, so I tried."😉

Flowers with Birds

The other day when I was out in the garden (wearing a bluish flower garden hat), Anna's Hummingbird  came close to me.

"I know you.  My nectar drinking time is here."😋

Lately Chestnut-backed Chickadee often comes here.

"I need to drink in the fountain.  I know someone is hiding there."😁

Lavender colored rose is in full bloom now.😎👍

Backyard Scene

 A female Mallard returned to my backyard.

"Today I decided to stop over  by myself.  My kids are growing up fast."

"I am a juvenile Brown-headed Cowbird."

"I am Anna's Hummingbird.  I am drinking the blueberry nectar."

The Wetlands

 Most of the winter birds are gone to the woods or to Alaska.😿

Anna's Hummingbird:  "I miss them, but I am always here."😍

White-crowned Sparrow:  "I am back from the coast.  I will stay here in spring and fall."🌷

Bewick's Wren:  "I stay here most of the time, and often visit someone's backyard.👍

Real Summer Days

 When the evening came on a hot day, a squirrel was stretched out on the lawn.

Hummingbirds Are Busy

 In my backyard, fuchsias are hanging in full bloom.

Anna's Hummingbird loves the nectar.

"I love the nectar."

"But I still like the hotlips, too.  

The white petal just came off ."

Backyard Birds

The fuchsias are in bloom.  Anna's Hummingbird likes to drink the nectar.

"My favorite flower."👍

"My favorite is roasted sunflower seeds."😍

Note:  Black-headed Grosbeak visited me after many years of  absence.  Many trees are gone due to development.  It is hard for them to come to my backyard.😥

Summer Backyard

 A summer bird, Rufous Hummingbird, stops over once in a while.

"I love these hotlips."

Bewick's Wren is busy, sand bathing.

"Not a dead bird.  Feel so good."

"I need to clean my feathers."

"My favorite summer flowers are back. "

Wetland Scene

 At the wetland nearby, wild roses are in bloom.

At the top of a dead tree, Anna's Hummingbird is often found.  

"It's a nice day.  This is my spot."

Song Sparrow:  "I'm calling for a girlfriend. "

Spotted Towhee:  "Me, too."

Fountain Bath

 The bird fountain is out, making noise for Anna's Hummingbirds.

"I heard it."🩷

"I am so  excited.  I can twist my neck to drink water here."🤩

"I now can dive into the water."🎶👍😁

Snow Day

Last two days we had snow and ice.  Many offices were closed and I had to cancel my medical appointment.  The bird bath had 1 inch of snow in the backyard.

Birds are busy trying to find something to eat when snowing.

Yellow-rumped Warbler:  "I am hungry."

Ruby-crowned Kinglet:  "I waited for snow to stop."

Anna's Hummingbird:  "I am avoiding  the wind."  

One Sunny Day

Even on a cold day, some little birds are around at the wetland.

Anna's Hummingbird, male:  "Yes.  I am one of the tough little birds."👍
