Wetlands Scene

It's been hot.   Many photographers go out for early morning photos.  Nowadays I can get there aroud eight am, later than I used to.😅

Someone far away.

"I am Green Heron."🤩

Cedar Waxwing:  "We like to find berries here.  Yum, yum, yum."😋

American Robin:  "A good catch.  Berries are my favorite, too." 👍

Great Blue Heron:  "Now I am returning to the nest to check on my babies.😎(❁´◡`❁)

(There is a heron colony near here.)

Not Always Hot Here

 At the wetlands sometimes it is hot; othertimes it is cold.

Song Sparrow:  "Today is hot👍

Tree Swallows:  "It is windy and  a bit cold."🤔

Cedar Waxwing:  "Today is just right."🤩

May Wetlands Scene

 The water level is already low.  We want more rain.🦅💧💧

Bald Eagle:  "I want more rain."💧

Osprey:  "I don't know if we can raise a young this year."💧

Cedar Waxwing:  "We are back.  We like to eat berries and see friends here."💧🙏

The Wetland Scene

 The real summer arrived here.  Many hot days.   

 

Turkey Vultures:  "Too hot, but we still like it here."😎🎶

Cedar Waxwings (four):  "It's a nice view here."👍

American Robin(lower right):  "I agree."

Bald Eagle, Juvenile:  "I am still young.  I take two years 

or more to get the white head and tail."🦅🤩

The Wetland Summer

 At the nearby wetland, young Canada Geese are busy with their parents.

"It takes a while to train them all.  Today is swimming."😊

Black-headed Grosbeak:  "I am still looking for a mate this summer." 😎🩷

Cedar Waxwing:  "I like to eat these berries."  😁👍

End of Summer

 Summer is coming to the end soon.  Everyone is getting ready for the new school year.  At the wetland nearby,  all the young birds born this summer has to grow up very fast and, for the summer birds, the time to travel to south will be very soon (maybe in Sept).

"We are Song Sparrow and will be staying here all the year around."

"I am Common Yellowthroat.  I will be travelling to south."

"I am Cedar Waxing.  I do not travel to south, but 

for winter, will move onto the warmer area in or near Oregon."

Friends at the Wetland

  A week ago, a couple of Cedar Waxwings and an American Goldfinch were looking far from the top of the fir tree.

"A nice day to look far away."👍

"A nice day to munch the delicious berries."🤩

Cowbird, male: "A nice day for me, too."🌞

Every bird seems to enjoy being in the wild place."

Season is Changing

 The weather is gradually getting cold.  This week will be rainy everyday.  Before the rain came, I took this photo of the bug.

At the wetland, birds are getting ready to move onto a warmer area.  I saw a flock of Cedar Waxwing early in the morning.

The berries in the woods are almost gone.  The cold weather is arriving soon.

"We can go to the coast where the temperature is mild."

Moving onto South

It is Autumn now and everyone is now back at school (except college kids).  At the wetland, summer birds are getting ready to leave for south.  One day I saw a young Turkey Vulture resting at top of the dead tree.

  "I am ready."

A flock of Cedar Waxwings were busy munching whatever berries they could find.

"We will be ready soon."

A Warbling Vireo was seen in the bush.

"I am going through here on the way to south."

Cedar Waxwings and Berries

 Last time at the wetland, we saw several Cedar Waxwings.  

"We are nesting around here💑."

"We think it is safe here to raise a family.💕

There will be  enough berries in the fall.

"I can't wait for eating the sweet berries.😄😍"

Rare Visitors to My Backyard

The other day I saw many birds flying into my backyard.

Here's one of them:   Cedar Waxwing.

"I just saw European Starlings flying around, so 

I stopped over to see what's going on👀."

Surprisingly, a female Western Tanger also showed up here in the midst of all the commotion here😍.

"Me, too👀.   I usually stay in the high canopy."

Lately, an American Crow come here.  Because on the ground they like to eat the suet crumbs that a squirrel have dropped earlier😀.

"No problem.  We like to clean them all up☝☝.  They are delicious😋."

Busy Summer Scene

The weather in Oregon fluctuates too much lately.  A week ago, it was very hot around 90 F degrees; now it is below normal, below 65 F degrees.

A few days ago at the end of the hot spell, we stopped over at the wetland.

Osprey:  "I am hunting a fish from high above."

Greater Yellowlegs:  "I am hunting on the ground."

Cedar Waxwing:  "I am hunting in the bush and nesting nearby in summer."

A Fancy Mask

Many Cedar Waxwings are around the wetland this summer.   Their face mask is for a carnival.

They like to eat berries.

"Yummy!"

At berry spots, you may find more Cedar Waxwings.

"I'm done with these berries."

Summer Birds at the Wetland

During the summer months at the wetland,  I sometimes encounter summer birds.  This time a Yellowthroat male in the bush was peaking at me.

"I am watchful of strangers."

A Tree Swallow family was busy flying around a pond.

A Cedar Waxwing family was still there.

"Wherever I find sweet berries, I will be there."

At the Wetland

Nowadays too many developments have taken place even in my neighborhood.  To accommodate that, too many trees have been cut down.  As a result, little birds can not hop between the trees to get to my backyard.  Black-headed Grosbeak (summer bird) is one of them.   I saw some at the nearby wetland.

"Hi, I decided not to go over to your place. 

 I am glad you came over instead."

Common Yellow-throat, male:  "Me, too."

Cedar Waxwing:  "Me, too."

More Summer Birds

It's been hot for several days; iris is now in bloom.  The flower reminds me of Children's Day holiday, May 5, in Japan.

At the nearby wetland, summer birds are now nesting.  This Tree Swallow was guarding the nest .

"I am watching you.  Stay away from my nest box."

Then I saw a small flock of Cedar Waxwing.

"We will be around here during summer.  See you next time."

Mid Summer Feed

It's the mid summer.  The weather has been stable and hot.  

One day we were at the wetland.  At the end of our walk, we encountered a flock of Cedar Waxwings feeding amongst the short trees.

"We are a twosome here."

"Who are you, the intruder?"

"Excuse us for our commotion.  We are just feeding here."
