Winter Scene

It has been cold and rainy.

Many Cackling Geese have arrived at the wetlands.

"We are a big family."☺️

In the morning sun, a Belted Kingfisher dived to catch a little fish.

"Wish me a luck."πŸ™

Summer is Over

At the wetland, there are many Goldfinches munching the weed seeds at the end of summer.

"Fall is a nice time of the year for the seeds.  Munch, munch...πŸ˜„"

Early in the morning, I can see one or two Belted Kingfishers catching a fish.

"My eyes are super good to see a fish movingπŸ‘€πŸ˜Ž."

On a lucky day, I can take a close up photo of an Osprey.

"I have a better vision to catch a big fishπŸ‘€πŸ‘€πŸ˜."

Foggy Morning

The fog was just lifting in town.

But at the wetland it was still cold and foggy near the water.

A Belted Kingfisher:  "Hard to see a fish..."

The fog is slowly lifting as we walked around the reservoir.

Great Egret:  "I have a super vision.  Here I caught a fish."

Late Summer

At the wetlands, most of the birds finished raising their young ones.  Right now  the young ones are learning to be on their own and their parents are enjoying the summer.

Everyone likes to perch high on a dead pole.

Belted Kingfisher:  "I am looking for a fish to eat."

Purple Martin:  "I am looking for a bug to eat."

Green Heron:  "I am looking for my kid.  He just took off."

Mid Summer Morning

This summer I try to visit the wetlands once a week to see any changes.   This time in mid summer, there were many young American Goldfinches and Lesser Goldfinches (smaller).

I saw a couple of Belted Kingfishers diving for food and at the same time fighting for territory.

"I am a better fisher!"

Young House Finches were busy munching the new flower seeds.

"Munch, munch... fresh seeds are so delicious."

A Beautiful Fall Day before Rain Arrives

We visited the nearby wetland  one more time before the rainy season arrived the next day.  Thousands of Canada Geese flew in, crisscrossing in the sky, and landed on a small pond.  In no time,  the pond was overcrowded.

Some started walking on the shore with their young ones in tow.

"We have a little one for this fall migration to
south.  We have to make more rest stops."

As I walked along a larger pond, I heard a high-pitched chattering noise, a sign of a Belted Kingfisher.

"The geese are making noise all over.  Now it's my turn."

Reservoir Visit

Close to the end of summer, many wildflowers are still in bloom at the wetland.

Across a pond, there was a large flock of white birds still in their slumber.  They turned out to be American White Pelicans.

As I walked along the pond, I spotted a bird on top of a wooden pole.  Guess who?  He was a Belted Kingfisher which I've been waiting to see for a long time.

"I am checking on the water down below."
