Summer Days

My backyard was heating up for a week.  But finally it cooled down and is just right for summer.  A couple of cabbage patch butterflies visit here often.  Their favorite is the lavender.

"Sweet juice."πŸ˜‹

Western Scrub-jay:  "I still like the suet."πŸ˜‹

American Robin:  "I picked up one of the sweet blueberries."πŸ˜‹

Chestnut-backed Chickadee:  "I like the suet all the year around."πŸ˜‹

A Crow Family

The fuchsia's season is here.  This is a pretty double blossom.  I bought a starter at the end of April.

This week, a family of American Crow visited my backyard.  They were four of them.
I keep a small dead pear tree for birds.

"This is a nice backyard.  Mom knows best."😁

Crow babies:  "We are hungry, Mom."
Mom(middle):  "Ok.  After this, you can take a bath there to get clean."πŸ‘

Note:  Crows are very smart.  Per the research paper at the University of Washington, they can remember the mean people's face and spread the bad news among them.
So be nice to them to be safe!

Big Birds at the Wetlands

A summer day.  The sun is hot and bright here early.  🌞

Most of Canada Goose go up north during the hot months.  But some of them still stay here and raise young ones.

Canada Goose:  "We are on landing training.  A smooth landing today."πŸͺΏ

Great Blue Heron:  "I raise young ones here, too.  Less babies to feed at the colony now."πŸ‘Ά

Osprey:  "I am here, too.  Today I am flying together with my spouse."πŸ€—πŸ˜˜

The Wetlands Summer

During the summer months, many bird families stay at the wetland.

Tree Swallow:  "The breakfast is the busy time to feed all young ones."

"I like to stand still by myself."
(I saw many Great Egrets on this walk.)

"I am a young female Black-headed Grosbeak."

Wood Duck:  "We are on the swimming drill today.  I have four babies."
