May Wetlands Scene

 The water level is already low.  We want more rain.🦅💧💧

Bald Eagle:  "I want more rain."💧

Osprey:  "I don't know if we can raise a young this year."💧

Cedar Waxwing:  "We are back.  We like to eat berries and see friends here."💧🙏

The Wetland Scene

 The real summer arrived here.  Many hot days.   

 

Turkey Vultures:  "Too hot, but we still like it here."😎🎶

Cedar Waxwings (four):  "It's a nice view here."👍

American Robin(lower right):  "I agree."

Bald Eagle, Juvenile:  "I am still young.  I take two years 

or more to get the white head and tail."🦅🤩

Big Bird

 One day at the wetland, I was taking a picture of  a heron.  Then I noticed something moving at the far end. What is it?😎

"I am a big bird."🦅

"My morning routine to fly over the water."🦅🎶

"You are lucky to see me here today."🤩👍☮️

Wetland in April

 Today I saw a couple of hundred Cackling Geese at the wetland nearby.  When sunny and warm, they like to take a nap.👍

"We are sleepy in Spring."

 Sometime if you are lucky, you will see a Bald Eagle flying by.🦅😄

"It is nice to see everyone from up above."

In spring, birds are busy delivering food to the nest.  I saw a couple of nests amongst the trees at the far end of the pond.😊💕

"I have to deliver this fish."

New Year's Greeting

 Soon it will be 2025.  Time flies very fast (faster when retired).

"Happy New Year to you!" 😊🎍

"I am soaring higher to bring peace for the coming year."🦅👍

Sunny Winter Day

 After the flooding, we stopped over at the wetland.  As we walked along the trail, we saw two Bald Eagles perched on a tall tree.

"A super day today.  We want to dry out the feathers.😎"

A Great Egret was standing still at a corner of a big pond.

"Everyone is happy today😊."

A Pied-billed Grebe was fishing by himself as usual.

"I can easily spot a fish on a clear day🤩."

Early Morning Wetland

 We went to the wetland around 7:00am.  Many Redwing  Blackbirds were waking up, moving to another feeding spot.

A Bald Eagle was on the way to a hunting spot early in the morning.

"I am hungry."

Down below where the sun begins to hit, a Great Blue Heron was staring the water.

"I saw a fish moving down there."

Chinese Lunar New Year is 1/22 This Year.

Last time when we went to the nearby wetland, it was cloudy.  The flood water was gone and we could park at the parking lot.  As we walked around the reservoirs, we saw a Bald Eagle at his favorite spot👍👍. 

"I am glad the flood water is gone😀.  My friends will come back here soon."

Green-winged Teal:  "I am happy now😄.   I do not want the muddy water😫😩💦."

Northern Pintails:  "I can feel the weather warming up.  We heard the Chinese New Year 

(Spring Festival) is coming very soon (1/22) 😍😁."

Cold Winter Morning

On a cold day,   we visited the wetland.  The sun was out and gradually warming up the air.

Bald Eagle:  "I like this crisp air."

Great Blue Heron:  "I like to walk on the frosty ground."

Trumpeter Swan:  "We like to fly in the clear sky."

(The second from the left  has a bit of yellow on the beak.  

This  must be a Tundra Swan amongst Trumpeter Swans.)

 

Kalapuyan Land

The other day when we visited a wetland, we found this sign 👀👀.  What is this?❓

"...The Kalapuya tribes' traditional homelands were the Willamette Valley of present-day western Oregon in the United States, an area bounded by the Cascade Range to the east, the Oregon Coast Range at the west, the Columbia River at the north, to the Calapooya Mountains of the Umpqua River at the south..."

We hope this land will be kept in a good condition so that people can enjoy watching birds as we do😍.

Many winter waterfowl: Canada Geese, Cacking Geese, Pintails, etc.

"Many friends have arrived here for the winter months.  

We appreciate the wetlands.😊😋😍"

On a Windy Day

The very cold temperature returned and stayed here for a week.  Even on a sunny day, we shivered with the chilly wind.

"It is chilly....😣😣"

A couple of Bald Eagles were perched on the regular tree.  As we walked around the reservoir, one flew over us.

"It's been cold.  Don't catch any virus👍👍."

There were enough Canada Geese around.  In the protected area, five of them were almost suntanning.

"The sun really keeps us warm in the early spring😊😊."

Two Big Birds

The wetland has spring blossoms.

Against the blue sky, there came a big bird.  First it looked like a goose, but it turned out to be an Bald Eagle. 

Another big bird was the Great Blue Heron,  perched  like a sentinel on a stump.

"I love the early spring morning.  Warm, and yet, quiet."

Happy New Year

The other day we returned to the wetland to see if the flood water has receded or not.  Luckily the water was gone, and we saw a couple of Bald Eagles on top of the tall tree, their favorite perching spot.

"Today is dry after many days of rain and clouds."

"It's the beginning of the new year."

"And we all support for the better year!"

 

A Surprise for a Cloudy Day

It was cloudy the other day, but we went out for  a walk.   As I walked along the reservoir, suddenly I noticed a big bird coming toward me.  A Bald Eagle flew right next to me and disappeared into the sky, and then circled back into my vision before heading back to his usual perch.

"I welcome a cloudy day.  Not too hot."

"I'll be  back to my branch."

"We live here."

Spring Day

Up high above the reservoir, I saw a 2nd year Bald Eagle.  

On a trail, I saw a Nutria walking across.

In my backyard, the pear blossoms are now beginning to bloom.

Fall Scene

The temperature went down to below freezing.  It's been cold.  This year the leaves are extremely colorful due to the early cold temperature we had at the end of September.  

On Sunday, at the nature Reserve nearby, I saw a Bald Eagle early in the morning.

In my backyard, a Gray Squirrel was busy munching the fallen suet.

Bald Eagle and Friend

Real Summer has arrived here.  One day we stopped over at the wetland.  Although I did not see any little summer bird in the bushes, I saw a big bird with his friend.

"Don't be in my way.  I don't want to bump you."

"I have to go.  Take care, my friend."
