After Many Days of Rain

After a few weeks of rainy days,  we returned to the wetland.   Just like people, birds are happy to be in  the sun.

"Now we can fly around without getting drenched."

"A Canada Goose and an American Coot can be friends together."

"I am a male Green-winged Teal."

"I am his girl.  Look at this green on my side."

Returnee Hawk

After a long absence, a Red-tailed Hawk returned to a tall tree in the neighborhood.

Probably because the new neighbor replaced the greenhouse with a regular shed.  No more scary bright lights all day long.

"Now I am back to a safe neighborhood."

"Rested, so am ready to move on to another spot."

Spring is Near.

This past week has been warm.   February 1st, the Chinese New Year (Spring Festival) is around the corner.    My camelia bush already has many green blossoms.  Spring is near.

A Varied Thrush returned here a few times this winter.

"I always need to check on the suet crumbs here."

"You know me.  I appreciate your food."

"Now I can find some bugs around
the moss on these old apple tree branches."

Flooding Lately

The wetland we often visit has been flooded, and the road leading there has been closed for a week.  Today was a dry day, so I hope the flood water will begin to recede now.

The Townsend's Warbler (male) visits my backyard   often this winter.

"I know the backyard owner replenishes the suet for me!"

"It is still raining.   Too much flooding around here."

Snow Birds

Since Christmas, it has been below the freezing.
We had to cancel a trip to the reservoir to see birds.

"I know where to find food on a snowy day."

"So  do I.  Here it is."

"No worry.  We'll survive."
