Birds in Istanbul, Turkey

Istanbul just opened the new airport, one of the largest airports in the world.

The Taksim Square for the Ataturk Day (5/19) was decorated with many flags.

Doves were marching around the square.

Every morning they are fed by the bucketful.

Bird and History in Georgia

In Tbilisi, capital of Georgia in Europe, we visited their National Museum.   Since the ancient times, birds have lived with people and seen the human history.

Sionis Cathedral was rebuilt in the 13th century.   We rode the gondola.  In the city center, the ropeway quickly crosses the Mtkvari River to the Narikara Fortress.

The fortress was first built by the Persians in the 4th century  Later it was reinforced by whoever invaded and controlled the area such as the Arabs, Mongols, and Turks.

The view from the Narikara Fortress: The center is the Peace Bridge, a symbol of the city.

Summer in Georgia (in Europe)

I am back.  The yard now have overgrown bushes and lawn.  I have to clean them up very quickly.

While I was away, I saw some birds.  House Sparrows are common worldwide.  Here at a UNESCO site in Kutaisi, Georgia, you can see House Sparrows nesting at the old Bagrati Cathedral.

"Hi, I live here.  Welcome to our Cathedral!"

At a city park in Tbilisi,  we visited the memorial for Japanese POW's.  We saw doves flying around and people visiting and doing exercises happily.

"Hi, I am a messenger of peace.  I am watching over the memorial."
