I encountered a bird that I haven't seen for a couple of years. I was at the observation deck, staying still. Then next to the structure, I saw someone was shaking in the leaves. I waited still and then saw this little bird.
"I've been hiding, but once in a while when it is absolutely safe, I peek out!"
"I am Nashville Warbler; during spring and summer, I live here."
Close to the end of summer, many wildflowers are still in bloom at the wetland.
Across a pond, there was a large flock of white birds still in their slumber. They turned out to be American White Pelicans.
As I walked along the pond, I spotted a bird on top of a wooden pole. Guess who? He was a Belted Kingfisher which I've been waiting to see for a long time.
Early in the morning, an Eurasian Dove perches on the top of a tall evergreen to begin his calling. Afterwards, one visits my backyard to feed on the seeds. Today, in the bright morning sun, he first arrived.
"Don't bother me."
Then, another one, probably a female, landed here.
Most of the birds are taking a break after finishing up raising their young. I have seen little ones of House Sparrows, House Finches, Song Sparrows, Spotted Towhees, American Robins, etc. This time I just noticed another bird still taking care of his little one.
